Resource Recovery Australia Mattress Recycling Facebook page

Soft Landing is a national social enterprise operating across NSW, ACT and WA.  We divert waste mattresses from landfill and recover the components for reuse.

Soft Landing has developed closed-loop material recovery for all mattress components.

We offer employment opportunities for people who experience barriers entering the open labour market.

Our four key objectives are:

Provide employment and training

Protect the environment

Support our community

Sustainability

Soft Landing is a social enterprise of Resource Recovery Australia

Provide employment and training

Creating jobs and training for local people who have experienced barriers to gaining lasting employment.

Protect the environment

Salvaging metal, foam and timber from mattresses diverts thousands of tonnes of waste from landfill annually. Every 10 tonne of materials is equivalent to:

- Taking four cars off the road permanently.

- Providing enough electricity to annually power 14.5 households.

- Saving enough water to fill 3.5 average backyard pools.

Support our community

Providing access to sustainable employment and training can result in improved economic wellbeing, better social, physical and mental health, reduced substance abuse, more secure housing and a less abuse and neglect – outcomes that help build a safe, productive community.

Sustainability

Soft Landing was designed to be self-sustaining and capable of growth. Since beginning in 2010, Soft Landing has extended its reach from the Illawarra to Sydney.  In 2016, Soft Landing commenced a national roll out with processing centres opened in Wanneroo near Perth and Hume in the ACT.  Soft Landing work with councils across each state to overcome illegal dumping, as well as servicing residents and our retail and manufacturing partners.

Soft Landing also provide mattress filling for Featherweight, another social enterprise of Resource Recovery Australia that produces padded sports equipment.
